4 weeks of weird, calm and chaos

I posted my first letter and made this website livve over 3 weeks ago already! Man how time flies. It’s been lots of work, a little bit of gym, watching a few world cup games & trying to remember to leave the house for a break between work sessions but then realising it’s a million degrees out and next thing I know I’ve got an aperol in one hand and 5 monopoly deal cards in the other.

I’m in France by the way, if I didn’t mention that in my last one & the past 4 weeks here (in our tiny town of La Teste-de-Buch) have been weird, chaotic, calm and wonderful all at the same time.

On the work front, its been a productive and chaotic 4 weeks. I took on 2 new team members (both of which have already been working for us at AOM but their leads/roles have just changed), we launched our second Camp Mondays event which is on a private island in Indonesia in September (wtf), I’ve been chatting to more members than ever to welcome them to the community & get feedback & have been gearing up for our biggest event EVER that is kicking off this Sunday. Our first Camp Mondays, where we are hosting 100 of our members in a village in France.

Because of everything listed above, I’ve been waking up daily to floods of whatsapp, slack & skool notifications, of which I never seem to be able to get through. WhatsApp notifications may be the death of me & I’ve realised though communication is one of my best skills (& something I enjoy), it really can be mentally draining.

Seeing the unread sea of whatapp messages make me feel like as soon as I start to thrive in work, I struggle to keep up with friends and vice-versa. So it’s times like this I really appreciate people being so patient with me.

I’ve been trying to learn to speak French since March & decided last week to pause my lessons. When I reflected on the fact that I had done zero practice in over a month and was only excited for lessons to talk to my wonderful teacher Emilia, as a typically very driven & stubborn girlie, I realised my heart wasn’t in it. Kind of ironic that being in France is when I decided to stop learning lol, but anyway, the weight instantly lifted off my shoulders after making this decision so I know it was the right one.

I had a random burst of inspiration (& delusion) that I could reach 10k followers in 30 days, so I started a new series on instagram. You can check it out HERE but lemme tell ya, it’s currently day 9 and I think I’ve gained 5 followers, so it’s going super well so far.

In all seriousness, I feel super passionate about this and have been on and off trying to consistently post content on IG for the past year. I’ve gone through waves of consistency and dropping off but as I mentioned earlier, this driven and stubborn girlie IS COMMITTEDDD.

The real driver for me with this series/creating content is opportunity. I want to work with incredible people, work with brands that I actually love and hopefully one day soon create a brand or business of my own. & I think building a community of followers on IG is the path to these things. I also just genuinely love making videos so it honestly feels like play to me.

After writing down my dream (realistic work) day last week I’ve realised I just want 4 things:

  1. make cool shit
  2. hang out with inspiring people
  3. go to epic events
  4. & work with dope brands I love.

& I'm hoping that if I just keep showing up and being honest, all these things will find me.

Anyway, seeya when I’ve got my whatsapp notifications down to an acceptable number & I have the brainspace to write another one of these & thanks for reading.
